Web links (link to let phone dial a phone number)
I know how to add Web Links, but using one of the Add options ("Run a Javascript", "Go to a Page in the Document", etc), can I use one of those options to add a link to allow someone a "click to call" option if they are reading the pdf on a phone enabled device? In html, the basic syntax is "a href=tel:[phone number]".
Thanks
David

Added support of "tel:" in the "Open a Web Link" action in build 354
Tracker Software (Project Director)

Thanks Ivan.
By the way, for now, I crafted a webpage with a clickable phone link. I added a link to that webpage in my pdf.

Hello DWC121,
Glad to hear you've found a workaround for the time being!
Kind regards,
Stefan

Dear all,
as pointed out above by Ivan, "tel: ..." works when adding a link manually in PDF XChange Editor.
However, when converting a word document with the pdf xchange word plugin, "tel:"-links do not seem to be converted. Other links, such as "mailto:" and "https:" are converted normally.
Have I missed something?
Cheers

Re: Web links (link to let phone dial a phone number)
Hello, User4455
I am not certain if Word supports tel: links, but all links should be converted in the same manner, leaving the url intact and if a protocol is available for use, selecting it, or leaving it in place to be handled by the application reading it.
Is the issue here that there is no link present at all in word, or are you seeing a "link" presented, but clicking it does nothing in Word? If the former, I will need to ask for a copy of the original PDF and output Word document to investigate. If the latter, you may want to reach out to microsoft support for assistance discerning why their app is not responding to the link when used.
Kind regards,

Re: Web links (link to let phone dial a phone number)
I am converting FROM word 2016 TO pdf through your office plugin.
tel-link works in word, i.e. I do see a link and when I click it, my softphone starts dialing the number.
In pdf: no link behind phone number, but mailto link works.

Hello, User4455
And here i thought you were converting from our software to word, not the other way around, my apologies! I see what you mean now, our conversion adding does not seem to retain these items, they instead become "open a file" links, which point at nothing.
I will forward this to our Dev team so that they can look into and improve this.
RT#6287: Bug: Word export with addin - Does not retain tel: links
In the meantime, you can use Words built in "Export >to PDF/XPS" function to convert these files in a way that does retain tel: links.
Kind regards,
