'Save as' destination folder Setting not working for imported office files

Post by mpfcp »

Hi,
we have configured PDF XChange Editor Pro so that by default the folder that is shown in the "save as" dialogue ist the same folder as the source document.
But if for example you open an MS Office file (.docx), it gets converted, and then when you save this document you don't get shown the folder where the .docx file was, but the last folder you used the save/open dialogue with.

Is this a bug or is there an additional setting I am missing (we configured it in preferences -> documents -> save documents -> "select destination folder for 'save as' documents" ).

Hi, mpfcp

This is unfortunately not a bug, but simply a feature which has not been implemented yet. You see, when you begin converting a word document, the original (Word) file is used and then discarded, and a new (PDF) file is created in memory. This new file has never yet been saved and thus does not have an "source location", to used for the remaining actions.
We are looking at ways to retain this information through these steps, but currently it is not possible to do so.
