Insert Pages from Open File
Hi All
I think the insert pages dialogue has changed in V9. In V8 when the insert pages button was pressed the dialogue that appeared allowed me to insert from a file or insert from an open pdf. I can't seem to find the option to insert from an open pdf. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: Insert Pages from Open File
The "Insert Pages" dialog box has indeed been changed in PDF-XChange Editor V9.
See Version 8 dialog box here below.
Open PDF's and also recently used PDF's now appear together in the Source > File field.
Kind regards.

Thanks to your latest screenshot, you can also see that the icons for both ranges are different and that recently opened PDF's have a cross in the upper right corner to remove them from the list, if you like.
Kind regards.

Re: Insert Pages from Open File
Is there a way to default the insert pages setting to be from opened files first instead of recent files?

Hi, johanna.daily
These options have no "default" value, as shown above, open documents will appear in the dropdown list, below recently opened documents. Since both are displayed, there should be no need for any other changes there. Simply open the dropdown and choose the open document.
Kind regards,

Re: Insert Pages from Open File
How can the "recent" documents be removed from this list? The old version only had the open files in that drop down.

Hello, Brockleee
There is no way to prevent this list from being filled, but you can use the "clear" button to remove the existing recent items from the list when needed Kind regards,

Hi Brocklee
This might help.....When you see the recents iin the drop down list there is a small "x" to the right which can be clicked so that they are forgotten from the recents list. (red ringed files below)
I don't know of a way to globally remove the recent listing.
Cheers

I think you are right Red,
Prior to V9, I don't know of a way to clear that globally either, I believe these "recents" are specific to the function.

Re: Insert Pages from Open File
This is a horrible change. We're inserting pages from open documents all day so the "recents" list keeps building, requiring us to scroll down to the bottom of the list each time to find the open document. Not only is this more time consuming, sometimes open documents and recent documents have very similar names, which causes people to accidentally insert a recent document when they meant to insert the open one. I know we can keep clearing the recents to get rid of them, but why force us to see them and have to keep clearing them in the first place?
Please go back to how it was, or at least let us turn off the "recents" function. We want our simple insert menu back again that shows only the currently open documents, please!!!

Hello, emery
I cannot make any promises for at change at this time, but the Dev Team is aware of the demand for improvements to this functionality, and I have just brought their attention back to this thread for further discussion. Hopefully we can see some changes in this light in the future, but for now all I can do is wait for their verdict.
Kind regards,

Hello,
Just wnated to ley you know, the Dev team has accepted this request, and I have made a formal ticket to track it:
RT#6289: FR: insert pages "recent" config
While this is not a guarantee it will be implemented, it is a promise that we will try our best to see these changes when time allows.
Kind regards,
