Way to change color of search results when not focused?

Post by prr »

Not sure how to say this, but when I search for a term in a document, all the results are colored the same. It would be a bit easier if the focused result was a different color, even a noticeably darker/lighter shade of the same blue. Sometimes, I click the arrows in the small search window that opens up in the top right corner, and I'm not sure what is focused and what isn't.

This is a nitpick, I know. I can simply read the sentences that contain the terms, but with colored results I think my suggestion would make things a bit smoother.

Is there a way to do this now, in the Preferences? I looked just now but didn't see any way to get this.

EDIT: I just noticed that PDFXChange places a bit of a box around the selected term. If I can't change the color of it, is there a way to increase the size of the border of the box--to make it thicker, and more noticeable? That would be a decent substitute.

Hello prr,

Is this the option you are looking for:

Yes, that looks exactly like what I want. How do I get that? One color for the result I am on, and another color for a term that I haven't yet scrolled/clicked onto.

Hello prr,

When you activate this in the "options" - the colours will be picked up by the Editor. You can not select custom colours yourself.

Kind regards,

Oh now I see what you were getting at. No, I wasn't looking for different colors for each of two words that I search for.

Let me show you what I DON'T want, in the screenshot.

OK each of the instances of my search term ("state") are colored the same. Is there a way to get the one instance that is focused, with that box around it, colored differently than all the other colors?

The exact color doesn't matter. All the unfocused/unselected instances of "state" can be blue, yellow, orange, whatever. But I would just like the one that is within the box, to be a different color.

Any way to get that?

Hi, prr

Unfortunately, no, there is not currently any way to make the "selected" search result highlight in a different color than the others.
