When right-clicking on certain files under Windows Explorer, the context menu shows an Open in PDF-XChange Editor command. Is it possible to get rid of it ?

Hello,

To get rid of the "Open in PDF-XChange Editor"-command in the context menu of Windows File Explorer, you should uninstall (make unavailable) the "Shell Extensions" component of the PDF-XChange Editor installation.

However, take care, also the preview of PDF-files in Windows File Explorer will not work anymore, after disabling the Shell Extensions.

How to?

- Go into the Windows "Settings" of your computer (click Start-menu button > Settings wheel)
- Click "Apps"
- In the list with applications, look for "PDF-XChange Editor" and click on it
- Click the "Modify"-button
- In the "PDF-XChange Editor Setup"-window, click the "Next"-button
- Click the "Change"-icon
- At "Shell Extensions", click the tiny black triangle, and select "Entire feature will be unavailable"
- Click Next > Next > Next > Change
- Wait a little while until the modification has finished
- Click "Finish"
- Close the Settings-window

Now, check in Windows File Explorer if the context-menu item has gone.
If not, you might have to restart your computer before seeing the result.

Best regards.

Hi there - I'm wanting to turn off the Shell Extension at installation time when deploying via a msi and an installation script. Is there a command line switch to set the options in the msi Custom install screen? Or is the only way to do it using a transform file?
