How to hide the scroll bars in standard view?

Post by qwey93 »

Hello, I have been using PDF-XChange Editor for just a few weeks.
I really like its aproach to UI and letting the end user control much of it.

I am wondering though, is there an option to turn of the scroll bars both horizontal and vertical?
I have no need for them and have better means of navigating.

Looking around, I found this command PDF that is linked on the bottom.

If there is no option for it in the UI, should the command below do the trick?
scrollbar=1|0 - turns scrollbars on or off.
Thanks

Hi, qwey93

Yes, this should accomplish that, I should also note that you seem to have located the V3 manual. We are now in v8, so you would want to be looking here for V8 command line options: https://help.pdf-xchange.com/pdfxe ... ns_ed.html

Unfortunately I do not believe we currently have a UI option to toggle toolbars, Though I am double checking this currently to be sure. It may also be possible through the use of JavaScript, so I will let you know here once I have a reply from the dev team on that option.

Hi, again qwey93

I am sorry to say that this is indeed the only way to hide scrollbars. It does not appear to be possible through any UI function or JavaScript currently. We may offer another option in the future, but I cannot make any guarantees at this time.

Hey Daniel thanks for the prompt reply, I aprreciate it.

I am fine with any solution that would work.
Using the correct link you provied me I tried to get it working through CMD

I navigated to the directory for PDFXEdit.exe on my machine

Code: Select all

PDFXEdit.exe /A scrollbar=0 "C:\Users\filepath.pdf"
Does not work. I have also tried the opposite of it.

Code: Select all

PDFXEdit.exe /A scrollbar=1 "C:\Users\filepath.pdf"
and the scrollbars are still visible.

Just to make sure, I tried the zoom command below and it works just fine.

Code: Select all

PDFXEdit.exe /A zoom=1000 "C:\Users\filepath.pdf"

Am I doing something wrong? Can you try it on your end to see if it works? Thanks!

Hi, qwey93

Thank you for coming back to me with this. I do see now that this is indeed no longer working. I have just reported this to our dev team, hopefully we can have this resolved in a future build. For the time being, there is unfortunately no way to hide the scrollbars however. For reference, the ticket number in questions is below, you can ask any member of our support team fo an update on this here, in the future.

#5223: Command /A scrollbar=1|0 does not work in Editor

Hi!
Just want to say that i'm interested in this feature as well. I would like to able to hide the scrollbar in standart view to improve my view of the document, since i'm using a "skinny" vertical monitor. Using in fullscreen view makes the scrollbar disapear but I lose a lot of tools too.
Could anyone tell me if there is an update on that?
Thank you!
