Reduce PDF file color depth

Hello Forum and Tracker Support Team,
in order to reduce the file size of PDF files, I think it would be very useful to be able to reduce the color depth of a PDF.
For example, I have a PDF with 1500 (bitmap) pages, which is about 1 GB in size.
The PDF pages are currently contained as True Color 24 Bit (16 million colors) in the PDF, and this way, one page occupies about 760 kB. In fact however, the pages only contain 8 bits, i.e. 256 colors in this file.
With 8 bit instead of 24 bit, one page occupies only about 212 kB. Therefore, the file size of that PDF could be reduced from 1 GB to about 280 MB if all pages would be reduced from 24 bit to 8 bit color depth, without any degradation in image quality.
I believe that this function could either be implemented in the "Optimize PDF" dialog of PDF-XChange Editor, or in the "Convert Colors" dialog of PDF Tools:
Many thanks for considering this as a feature request!
Best regards
David
