When [Open in New Tab] is enabled,
documents open in the most recently used window,
independent of any virtual desktop.
(A new window is created if no app window is presently open anywhere.)
I am seeking an [Open in New Tab] option
which considers the active virtual desktop only.
If enabled, a document would open in
the most recently used application window WITHIN the active virtual desktop,
else the document would open in
a new application window, again WITHIN the active virtual desktop.
This prevents being thrown several virtual desktops over when opening a document,
and then needing to transport the document back across virtual desktops
to the original (intended) virtual desktop.
FeatureRequest: Open in New tab optionally only considers active Virtual Desktop

Re: FeatureRequest: Open in New tab optionally only considers active Virtual Desktop
Adding supporting clarification of what I mean by virtual desktops:
I mean the Windows 10 feature "Virtual Desktops".
(See: Windows Settings --> System --> Multitasking --> Virtual Desktops)
which simply provide additional spaces to place/organize windows.
(This is called Spaces on macOS).
So, I mean this.

I do not mean desktop virtualization software, which is a more advanced concept,
nor do I mean the specific desktop virtualization software known as "Windows Virtual Desktop",
which (unfortunately) creates an overlap in naming conventions...

Hi, itskando
Thank you for the excellent suggestion. I had to consult with our Dev team to see if this was possible, and it seems that it should be, however it may be a while before you can see this functionality in the application. In the meantime I have created a formal feature request ticket for this, which you can ask any member of our support team for updates on its progress in the future.

Hi, itskando
This ticket is marked as "in progress" and has been assigned both a developer and a work item number. At the moment, I still cannot provide an estimate on how long development of this feature may still take.
Kind regards,
