Update doesn't retain preview handler settings

Hello!

I have noticed that at least two last updates (334->335 and 335->336) resets preview handler settings to none. I should manually to run XCShInfoSetup.exe to assign preview handler to PDF-XChange Editor. It is quite annoying .....

Hello Ovg,

As the preview handler is a shell extension, any time that it is updated it must be overwritten, this means that until you have restarted either windows or the file explorer it will not be fully usable. We recommend restarting your PC after running any installer that works with shell extensions to ensure everything works as intended, our installers are no exception. If you restart after updating/reinstalling, the preview handler should be properly usable without any "finagling".

Kind regards,

Hello Daniel!

Nope, it doesn't work for me as you described.

1. I uninstalled 336 build
2. Reboot PC
3. I installed 335 build
4. Preview working fine
5. I installed 336 over 335
6. I saw message about reboot is required
7. Reboot PC
8. Preview doesn't work
9. I started XCShInfoSetup.exe - see attached pic

Hi OVG,

This is certainly strange, I am not seeing this here, but I have forwarded this to our Dev team for investigation, they may have more input or ideas for what could be happening here to cause this. Just as a final check before they get to it, you do not have any security software in place that could be preventing us from changing the shell extensions automatically right?

Kind regards,

Yes, there is at least one person present :-)

Could you please tell me whether after the update the fields of the XCShInfo Setup.exe
looks the same as the ones from version 336?

A screenshot would be appreciated.

Regards.

Hmm... that is strange indeed.

Since our developers changed the locations of a few things, in the recent few builds, I can suggest to you to make a deep clean install at least once.

That way you can make sure that your product is not affected by some leftovers from older builds.

if you will, l please follow these introductions:

viewtopic.php?f=62&t=33842&p=140227&hil ... ll#p140227

Before you do that, please backup all of your customizations ( Stamps, Presets, Signatures, etc... ) because some of them will be destroyed.

Regards.

without my intervention. But we are speaking about update, not clean install. Will wait next update?

Hello Ovg,
what Windows version do you use? Do you change some options during installation or leave everything by default?
Thanks in advance
