Session: Store view position per duplicate document tab
Hello.
I often use duplicate tabs of the same document to keep different sections of the same document accessibly. Unfortunately the session manager does not store the last view position of the duplicate tabs, but opens them all at the same position. Is there any option I can change to fix this?
Thanks.

Re: Session: Store view position per duplicate document tab
Hello Timur,
Currently it is not possible, as the "last viewed" data is a single value per document, even if multiple instances of a document is opened, only one value can be stored. I am unsure if this is something that we can change, but we will look into it.
Kind regards,

Re: Session: Store view position per duplicate document tab
Hi again Timur,
It appears that I misspoke, we actually do have this functionality already and it is specific to the session manager, Simply setup your Session settings like mine here, ensuring that "keep current position" is checked, and "use history to restore last" is unchecked: With these options in place, a single document can have multiple positions saved in a session!
Regards,

Re: Session: Store view position per duplicate document tab
Dear Tracker-Team,
Thank you, this was new to me, too.
I would like to make two comments in this regard:
1. Daniel pointed out, that this is "specific to the session manager". I tested it with "save session as file"-Button (with settings in the session manager set as above beforehand), and it works as well, i.e. the settings of the session manager seem to rule the session-file-saving correspondingly. This is great!
2. It seems that this only works for multiple tabs of one document, but it does not work for split-view of one document. Do you think, you can make it work for split-view, too? The underlying problem appears very similar to me.
Thank you!
Cheers!

Re: Session: Store view position per duplicate document tab
Hi, User4455
Thank you for bringing that up! I have created a new ticket on this and just finished discussing it with the dev team. I cannot provide a timeline, but they are already on board to add this in as well in the future. For reference, here is the ticket number:
RT#5382: Session - Remember multiple views for "split view" document tabs

Re: Session: Store view position per duplicate document tab
Restoring the last document view seems broken in V9?! Now it does not restore any view at all, all documents are opened to their very first page. Happens with both automatic and manual session loading.

Re: Session: Store view position per duplicate document tab
Hi, Timur Born
Thank you for the report, I cannot reproduce this at all on this end. Could I ask you to please confirm that you have not changed the "page display" settings in the Editor preferences (Ctrl_K) as this could have an impact on stored document positions. The default settings should always respect the last used view of the document, or the view the document defines if it is a first time opening.
You may wish to try resetting your application settings to resolve this issue (File > manage settings > reset settings).

Re: Session: Store view position per duplicate document tab
The following setting was disabled, I don't remember getting anywhere near it, though. I will try to update V8 to V9 on my laptop and check if this messes with the same settings.
