Scanner not selected

Post by MarshallAbrams »

I'm trying to scan a document using Editor V 8 build 335 in unpaid mode. I've tried to connect to the scanner using the default (since the scanner is registered with Windows 10) and explicitly setting various options. No matter what I do, I get an error message "PXVLib: Scanner is not selected. " What am I missing?

Hello Marshall,

Could you please try to use the scanner in another application like Paint and see if it works there?

Regards.

The scanner, a CanoScan LiDE 220, is working from Acrobat X and IrfanView.

Hello Marshall,

Can you please send a screenshot showing the Scanning dialog while you have the "default scanner" selected in the Editor, so that we can see your settings? Can you also confirm if the issue still occurs when you do manually select the scanner through the dropdown, or if this only happens when trying to use the "default scanner" option.

Kind regards,

The custom scan worked. The preset scan failed. Since I'm just learning how to use Xchange Editor, I may not have captured what you need. Please give me idiot-proof instructions if you need more.

Here are five screen shots; hope they are what you need.

Hello Marshall,

If the Custom scan is working, it likely means that the Editor is set to use a different scanner (which ma not be available) for its scans. To change this, open the preferences (Ctrl+K) and navigate to the "Scanner presets" category, and click the "select default scanner" cogs:

Then choose the desired scanner and click OK followed by apply:

After this, Restart the Editor and try a scan as you were doing before, does it work properly now?

I didn't know that I had to restart to get the settings to take effect. That did it! Thanks very much.
