Customize PDF Editor

Post by AOEH »

Hi Support

Have several question to customization of PDF Editor:
  • Is it possible to hide the notification banners just under the ribbons bar? The reason for it is, that a red notification looks like a "danger" thing and could confuse users.
  • I also tried to hide the help ribbon by GPO (Toolbars Visibility) and the setting "help:0". Is it possible to remove help or am i completely wrong?
  • How can I pre-install further OCR languages? We have locations in different countries and it would be nice to install all those languages in advance.

Any hint is welcome :-)

Thanks, Alex

Hi Alex,

thanks for the post and excellent questions.

Absolutely, use the "Document Info Bar" Policy: https://help.pdf-xchange.com/sysad ... o-bar.html
Is it safe to assume you have seen this? https://help.pdf-xchange.com/sysad ... lates.html? You should be able to suppress all the Info Bars using this Policy from the Template: https://help.pdf-xchange.com/sysad ... o-bar.html I noticed that we list 10 Info Bar IDs in that page and there are now 12. I will get that documentation updated today with all 12.
I also tried to hide the help ribbon by GPO (Toolbars Visibility) and the setting "help:0". Is it possible to remove help or am i completely wrong?
Unfortunately it is not possible (yet) to hide an entire Ribbon, though it would be a good option I think. I believe there were some challenges making such a policy work when users have applied the "Classic Menu". So as nice as "Help:0" would be, you are going to need to explicitly hide each of the Tools on that Ribbon I am afraid. Note that a "Hidden" Tool can still be used via a keyboard shortcut, so to ensure it is not used you should also disable it. Disabled Tools get greyed out, you can both disable and hide Tools.
How can I pre-install further OCR languages? We have locations in different countries and it would be nice to install all those languages in advance.
Another excellent question. Unfortunately I do not have an answer for that directly, I will need to find out if/how this can be done.

I will post back here later today.
Best regards

Hi again Alex.

In recent builds we moved the language files to a common folder that is shared by PDF-Tools and the PDF-XChange Editor. If you run an instance of the Editor locally you can use the GUI to download the languages you want to push then, post install simply copy the desired language file(s) to:

Enhanced OCR:
"c:\Program Files\Common Files\Tracker Software\Common\LeadTools\OcrResources\"

Default OCR:
"c:\Program Files\Common Files\Tracker Software\Common\Tesseract\"

Note that as this folder is used by both the Editor and PDF-Tools, both will have access to these languages once the files are in there. The installer does not have an option to copy these, you will need to script copying the files post install.

Do let me know how that goes?

Paul
