Hello,
I am using PDF-XChange Editor V8 (build 332). When I use "File" -> "Open From" -> "URL..." with
https://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/xhtml/t ... /dummy.pdf
everything works as expected. But when I use a URL with parameters e.g.
https://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/xhtml/t ... df?param=1
I get the following error message:
The same URL works absolutely fine with PDF-XChange Editor V7 (build 328.2).
In our environment, we regularily use HTTP-URLs with several parameters in order to use a third party DMS. This works fine with V7 (build 328.2), too. However, we would like to update to V8, but this new bug is a show stopper for us.
Best regards,
Andreas

Hi Andreas,
Thanks for the post - We've tested here and can't reproduce the issue. Can you walk us through, step-by-step, how you're opening the file?
Thanks,

Re: Opening a PDF from an URL does not work with parameters
Hello Will,
thanks for the quick response. Firstly, here's is what I am doing to reproduce this on my end (nothing fancy):
1. Open PDF-XChange Editor V8 (build 332)
2. Click on "File" -> "Open From" -> "URL..."
3. Enter the following URL in the pop-up dialog "Open a web link": https://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/xhtml/t ... df?param=1
4. The following error message appears:
Considering that you could not reproduce the problem, I became suspicious and tried to open the URL using PDFXChange Editor V8 (build 332) from outside our network. This worked without any problems. The solution to access the internal URLs would be to exclude these specific (HTTP-)services from proxy usage. Nevertheless, this would mean that we could no longer access external URLs. Although this is not that big of an issue, it is still a bit of a nuisance.
This leads me to the following questions:
- Was there any change from V7 to V8 that changed the way proxies are handled?
- Are there any settings within PDFXChange-Editor that have to do with proxies?
Fine Regards,
Andreas

Re: Opening a PDF from an URL does not work with parameters
Hello AnKeilha,
Thank you for the steps there, following them I was also unable to reproduce the issue. There are currently no settings in the Editor to handle anything proxy related, nor do I recall there having been any changes on that front between V7 and 8. Nonetheless, I have created a ticket for us to look into this more, and see if we can reproduce the issue with our own proxies in place.

Hi AnKeilha,
the team were looking at this item today and we are unable to reproduce this issue. Can you please test the current version (9.3.361.0) and let us know if it is working for you?
cheers

I have tested with 9.3.361.0 - no luck
It's impossible to lead us astray for we don't care even to choose the way.

Can you provide more info about your proxy?
