Avoid demo version & add and remove license

Hi Support

We will soon move from Adobe PDF to PDF Xchange. We plan to roll-out Editor as viewer as well as an licensed Editor Plus.
Everyone gets the "viewer" while people can apply for the Editor Plus. Even if you have a well documented software, I didn't find an answer to the two mentioned topics:

1. Avoid demo version: Is it possible to suppress the option to activate the demo version?
2. Add and remove licence: Since we install the unlicensed Editor as viewer, is it possible to add the license afterwards IF a user demand an Editor Plus (Upgrade) by command line? In the opposite way, is it possible to remove a license by command line from an Editor Plus to downgrade it to a license free "viewer"? If this is not possible, will there be an identifier in the registry to find out what version is currently installed?

Thanks for your help and cheers,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the post!
1. Avoid demo version: Is it possible to suppress the option to activate the demo version?
Do you mean that you would like to hide features that require a license? If so, you can push either a registry key, or a settings file that already has this option set (File --> Preferences --> Registration) after installation. It can also be set by Group Policy.
License keys can be added by the command line, but not removed. You would need to remove the registry key associated with the license, which is found under HKCU or HKLM\Software\Tracker Software\Vault.

I'd recommend that you take a look at our Sys Admin manual, as it contains information on all of the above:

Thanks,

Hi Will

Thanks for your answer.
I'd recommend that you take a look at our Sys Admin manual, as it contains information on all of the above:

That's a great hint. Will have a closer look at the Group Policy Settings.
Do you mean that you would like to hide features that require a license?
Hide the features they can't use is way better than only to avoid them from using the demo.

Will post again as soon as I have my desired result or further questions.

Cheers, Alex

If I disable licensed features by GPO, are they only disabled for unlicensed Editors or also for licensed ones?

Hi Alex,

This should only hide them for unlicensed users, but should you have any issues then please do let us know.

Cheers,

Hi
License keys can be added by the command line, but not removed. You would need to remove the registry key associated with the license, which is found under HKCU or HKLM\Software\Tracker Software\Vault.
That works well and is simple to implement. Thanks again!
