Bad behavior when losing connection to file

Hi,
This relates to PDF-XChange Editor v 8.0.331.0 and, as best as I can recall, any previous version.
In a networking environment, e.g. when entering hibernation mode on the Laptop or other loss of network connection, PDF-XChange Editor may lose connection to open files. That's understandable.
However, the recovery when the connection is back needs to be improved. At this point, only closing or reopening are possible. The most critical option to retry (even better, just retry automatically when the document window receives focus) is missing.
This is very problematic for the following scenario: Working on a file in PDF-XChange Editor, including amendments. Network connection gets lost. PDF-XChange Editor brings up an error message, please see attached. All edits are lost because only closing or reopening as possible, despite the network connection already being back again.
I am not aware of any other professional program with this behavior that allows you to lose your work that easily. Please look into this.
Thank you.
Best regards
Seeker45

Hi Seeker45,

This is something that we are looking to change. As I understand (though cannot confirm at this time), we're planning to add the ability to retry and save a local copy. Either way, the goal is that changes made do not need to be lost.

I understand how frustrating this can be and do appreciate your patience here!

Cheers,

Hi Will, is this feature available in the latest PDFX Editor?

Hi, asamrith@gmail.com

I am afraid not, This function has been discussed at length and it is unfortunately both highly complex , and will require a thorough re-work of the internal systems involved in opening, saving, and the like.
We are hoping that we can work some changes into the software after version 9 is released, but I still cannot offer a timeline for these changes currently.

Kind regards,
