Suggestion: Search - zoom to result always "centered"

Post by Peter2 »

Standard behaviour:
- search a text
- click next - next - next
- it zooms to next - next - next

But:
If the "next search result" is already displayed on current page, there is no real "zoom to it". It is only selected and displayed.

That's OK for text-documents, where "next" is always below the previous. But when you search in drawing, then "next result" can be somewhere on the screen - and in complicated drawings with a lot of content you have to search the search results with the finger on the screen ;-)

So please add an option like "display current search result always centred on the screen" - important fro drawings ..

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter,

thanks fro the feedback. Are you using the current build? It should already be doing that:

Are you seeing something different? Perhaps I misunderstand what you are looking for here?

Paul

I have build 331 and this behaviour:

https://autode.sk/2YpDqnq

As described, if the second result is already on the page, it "jumps aside" and does not center the new result.

Hello Peter,

Thank you for the video showcasing the issue, I have created a formal feature request to offer an option than enables this.
RT#4835: Option to always center search results

I can say that the current handling is useful for a large number of users, but I agree that for drawings and other plans this is less than ideal. I unfortunately cannot make any guarantees about implementation or timelines at the moment however.

Kind regards,
