multiple instances of PDF-XChange Editor

Post by kumar »

Hello,
I have PDF-XChange Editor setup such that files are opened as tabs in 1 instance of PDF-XChange Editor window. If I open a new PDF file then it is opened as a tab in existing window. But, if I click on PDF-XChange Editor application shortcut in start menu, it does not open a new window. The problem with this is I'm locked to 1 instance and there is no way to open a second instance which in many cases is necessary even though I have some PDF files already opened in an instance of PDF-XChange Editor window.

What would be good is to have a keyboard shortcut (or hold down a key and when start menu is clicked) that can be used to open a new instance/window of PDF-XChange Editor or have a command in (PDF-XChange Editor) existing instance to open a new instance of window otherwise, the current functionality is severely handicapping.

If I want to open 2 separate documents to compare (visually), I cannot do it. That is a big disadvantage. Having the ability to be able to open a new instance of PDF-XChange Editor even though the default behavior is to have multiple files open as tabs is very much needed.

Hi Kumar,

Thanks for the post - The Editor does not have multiple instances, but does have multiple frames. You can either click and drag the tabs off of the tab bar to create a new frame, or enable the following option under File --> Preferences --> General:

Thanks,
If posting files to this forum, you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded.
Thank you.
