Re: URGENT Fillable Form Fields won't do correct formatting

Post by mia_cat24 »

Hi,

I am trying to fill in some interactive forms as part of a PDF job application (due midday tomorrow, so this problem needs to be fixed URGENTLY!), and am having some problems with the formatting of the forms. In one form, whenever I try to type an answer in, or copy and paste it in, it simply puts all the text (and there's quite a lot of text) in on one line, instead of using up the whole box. I have tried all the usual ways of getting it to format itself as a paragraph, 'enter', 'tab', arrow keys, changing the formatting (which I cannot do because I have the free version of PDF XChange Editor, and it will put the DEMO stamp everywhere if I change anything), to no avail.

The other problem is another form, which insists on changing the font size of the text within it to an almost unreadably small size. I cannot find where to change this. It doesn't make any difference if I copy and paste from MS Word, it still changes the size automatically.

PLEASE HELP ASAP!!

Hi Mia,

Thanks for the post - This is actually a setting that each text field has, that says whether or not the form field should wrap text onto a new line. If this is not set, the text will not wrap. If there is no security on the form and it is not an XFA form, you can use our form editing features, bu this requires a minimum of an Editor Plus license:

Thanks,

Hi Will,

Thank you so much for your quick reply! However, I'm afraid I simply can't afford to be spending that amount of money (or really any amount) for what may well be a one-time use right now. Unless there's anything else you could recommend, I will probably try attaching a separate PDF document of my own making and indicating in the form field what I have done and why.

Thanks anyway.

Hi Mia,

Not a problem at all! I'm afraid that there isn't anything else that I can suggest, as this is a licensed feature; this is simply a facet of the PDF format and I'm not aware of any software that offers PDF form editing for free (filling is usually, though not always, free in most apps).

Sorry, I know that's not what you were hoping for!
