Format is always disabled

Post by timidri »

Hi Guys,

I bought the paid version of PDF-XChange Editor.
Currently I am trying to change the font size of text fields, but the area format is basically greyed out.
I tried different PDF documents.
The license is correctly recorded.
I have tried it both with the text selection and with the typewriter.
What am I doing wrong?

Thank you in advance

Hello timidri,

The only time the Editor will unexpectedly "grey out" tools is when something in the document specifies that this form of editing is not allowed. You can check if this is the case by opening the document properties (Ctrl+D) and looking on the security tab.

I there is no security in place, please send us a copy of this document to investigate.
Kind regards,

Thanks for that quick answer.

The security tab shows the following:

In case you like to modify the properties of text fields in a PDF-form, you need to first:
- activate the "Edit Form"-button in the Forms-toolbar or in the Form-menu (Classic Toolbars user interface)
or
- activate the "Select Fields"-button in the Forms-tab (Ribbon user interface)
and
- then click one of the text fields.

Best regards.

Thanks Willy!

@timidri - Willy is correct here, as it appears that you are trying to modify the properties of a form field, which can only be done using the form editing features:

HTH!
