Attachments do not open in Adobe DC viewer

Hi,
I've added a couple of pdf attachments created in X-Change (fillable forms) to my master pdf file. They all work well when opened in X-Change, but some of them will just not open in Adobe Reader/DC. After clicking links in Adobe nothing happens - there is no message, but the file will not pop up. The "save attachment" option does not work either.
Any clues? Can this be some kind of security issue?
