Excel cells not editable on PDF-XChange 7.0

Post by ibek »

This version of PDF-XChange(7.0 - build 327.0) doesn't allow me to edit excel cells pasted into PDF-Xchange.
Previous version doesn't seem to have this issue. Is there a change?

Hi ibek,

Thanks for the post - As far as I'm aware, data from Excel has always been pasted as a stamp and was never directly editable. This is the same way that Adobe handles this data as well and is because there isn't actually any such thing as tables in PDF's. You can simulate a table with lines (path objects, vectors, etc.) and then adding the data inside the 'cells', but the lines are not actually linked to one another, nor is the data inside linked to the 'cells' in any way.

What we have implemented is the ability to edit the text after flattening the pasted object (Right Click --> Flatten Select Object(s)).

HTH!

Thank you.
