Align text/images either left, right or center

There must be a way to align a text box or image to be centered in the page but I can't find the option anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
For as far as I know, automatic centering of text or images in the middle of a page, is not yet possible.
A work-around for text would be to draw a text box as large as the width of the page and click the "Center Text" option, before typing the text. For images you will need to use a manual drag-and-drop.
Maybe a useful feature will be introduced in one of the next major builds.
