Execute Command add File Attachment

Post by holiday676 »

Hallo,

I am new in the topic PDF-forms and I have problem with executing the Command Add File Attachment.
I have created a button, which schuld allow to add to my pdf form some kind of new document ( also pdf file). I have set an action in Propperties after Mouse Down. Unfortunately I receive any action after I have pushed this Button.

Hello holiday676,

Can you please check which build of our products is currently installed on your machine?
As with build 328.1 (the current latest) - your Button2 (Sicherheitsdatenblatt) - does seem to work perfectly fine for me - and opens the dialogue window in which I can select the file to attach to the form.

Or is it that you want to do some further actions after this and are having issues with capturing the event?

Regards,
Stefan

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I have checked and my Version is 7.0 ( Build 328.1).
It would like to have just this dialog option, no further action necessery. I will ask IT, maybe the pop-up windows are blocked

kind regards,

Hello holiday676,

Either that or e.g. the execution of JS inside PDF files (Which is a setting in the Editor you can find under Preferences -> JaveScript).

Please let us know what you find out!

Stefan

The second question and maybe the Solutions ( I use Adobe Reader DC as a Launch program, I have try to open my pdf form in PDF Architect 6- unfortunatelly also without Success)- How can I use PDF-XChange Editor to see my pdf form in User modul ?

Thank you in Advance :-)

Hello Holiday676,

I am afraid that there is no attachment with your JavaScript preferences in that forum post, I have included a screenshot of my JS preferences window for reference. the button works perfectly for me as well.

I hope this helps!

Hello Holiday,

Could I ask what operating system you are running? I realize I missed this earlier, but it is very odd that it would work perfectly fine for both me and Stefan locally, but on your machine it does not work in either our software or Adobe's.

Have you tried reinstalling the Editor yet to see if that helps?
Beyond that, possibly try running the program as administrator, perhaps there is a permission that is preventing JavaScript buttons from opening a windows dialog.

Kind regards,

Thanks for that holiday676,

we have tested it here on a number of different platforms, including Linux and wine and in all cases so far it has worked as expected.

Can we get you to export your settings to file and send them to us please? You will need to put the settings file in a zip archive when attaching to the forum else it will not be allowed. File --> Manage Settings --> Export Settings

Also, can you send us a screenshot of your file, open in the Editor with the Attachments (Shift + Ctrl + A) pane active please?

We are keen to see if the "New" Attachment item is available to you:

I have attached the Printscreen, and also the my export settings.

Hallo,

I have found the solution :-)
I have reset my manage settings and from now my button show the dialog option.
Could you give me a hand, and write how to do so that when the pdf form is submited. User can see with button the attachment.

Thank you in advance

Hello holiday676,

Glad to hear that the initial trouble is resolved with a settings reset!

As for the latest enquiry - if you send the form with the attachment - a recipient with a capable PDF viewer will be able to see both the PDF and the attached file (in e.g. the Attachments pane in our Editor).

Regards,
Stefan
