change page orientation leads to crash

Post by peter_altherr »

this is what i did:

1. i have scanned a 13 pages document into pdf using an hp multi-function-printer
2. i have opened the resulting pdf in pdf-xchange editor 7.328.1 and tried to change page orientation of some of the pages
3. as soon as i click ok in the change page orientation dialog pdf-xchange editor crashes (shuts down by itself).

is there a crash log somewhere in order to loook after the cause?

thanks
peter

i was able to complete the operation on that document using the portable free version of pdfxchange-viewer 2.5 build 322.9, so there must be something buggy in pdfxchange-editor 7.328.1.

and the story has not ended yet. after saving the file in pdfxchange-viewer i am no longer able to open it in pdfxchange-editor. the first time it opened the pdf but the first page was rendered wrong (several layers of characters) and the program hung for some seconds and then crashed. the second try did not even open pdfxchange-editor. in the next step i tried to reopen in pdfxchange-viewer and everything is fine. opens and renders correctly. and my last test was with acrobat reader dc 2019.008.20071 which opens fine and renders correcly as well. so two more signs leading me to the conclusion there must be some bug in pdfxchange-editor.

Hello Peter,

Can you please share this file with us? If it's too big or confidential - please upload it and e-mail us a link, so that I can pass it to our devs for further investigation!

Regards,
Stefan

Hello Peter,

Thank you for this, I have been watching the inbox for the past half an hour and have not seen your email appear yet. Can you please verify that you sent it to the correct address?
If you did send it to the correct address, It is possible that the file was too large, or the link looked suspicious and the email bounced. If that is the case please follow the steps here to upload the file to our useruploads server, then email us once again with a name of the file on our server, and a link to this forum post.

hello daniel,

i have tried to call the upload server in my browser from two different isp's at this moment. it seems the page is unavailable as chrome drops an ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED message.

i will give it another try later this day.

best regards

Hi Peter,

If you do manage to upload the file to any file sharing service (not necessarily one from your ISP) - and can send us a link - we will still be happy to grab the file from there!

Stefan
