Reset ribbon ui

Post by Couperin »

Running latest version 7.328.1. When I try and switch to Ribbon UI all I get is a single line at the top with PDF, folder, save, print, mail, scanner and forward/back buttons. Under Customize Options everything seems to be checked under New Toolbars. I've tried resetting but this changes nothing. How do I actually get the Standard Ribbons to appear? Under Customize Options only the top 4 boxes are checked. I give up...?

Hello,

Most probably you have de-activated the Menu-bar.
You can re-activate it by pressing the F8 function key on your keyboard (it acts as an ON/OFF switch for the menu bar).

Once the Menu-bar is back, click at the utmost right of this bar, onto the down-arrow.
Finally, at that same place (utmost right), click the PIN-icon.

Best regards.

Thanks, that did it, but reset to defaults plus a restart of the program should really reset, which it does not. I had no idea that F8 completely kills the Menu Bar, also even your own help files return nothing if you search on F8...and it's hardly a 'standard' like F1 = Help.

I have to make a small correction to my terminology ...

In "Ribbon UI", the F8 function key is being used to "Toggle All Toolbars".

In "Classic Toolbars", the F8 function key also toggles the toolbar, but it is the F9 key that toggles the Menu-toolbar.

Hello Willy,

Thanks for the clarification.

Hello Couperin,

Reset to defaults had to reset the toolbars but I'm not sure why it did not.

We are still working on improving the search engine of our online guide.

Regards.

I've used Editor for a few years and love it. BUT.

This is the most promising thread that I've found for my problem: I cannot display the Ribbon UI.
This is what I've tried:
F8 does nothing; display doesn't blink; there's no beep; just ho response.

I looked at the linked Keyboard Shortcuts page and the word, :Ribbon" appears twice.

I searched for F8 and there's no response to Ctrl+F8 or F8.

I have a project that requires PDF XChange Editor.

Can ANYONE help me?

Hello mjmbradley,

Can you please send us a screenshot of what you UI currently looks like? we may be able to discern the cause of the issue better from that. You can post images directly in your forum post directly from the clipboard by pressing Ctrl+V when writing your post if the image is copied.

Thank you!
