Zooming with mousewheel only

Post by martin fejks »

Hi,

I am missing feature - ZOOM only with mousewheel.

This behaviour is COMMON for Autocad, Archicad, Allplan and other Cad users. Combination of CTRL and mousewheel is inacceptable.

Please, can you add this feature in editor?

I think, a lot of people (esp. designers) will appriciate it.

May be some little switch - Use zooming without CTRL button ...

Thank you

Martin Fejks.

Hello Martin,

Thanks for your post and request, but I am afraid that mouse wheel is reserved for scrolling in the document, and you need to use the Ctrl key + the wheel for scrolling.
Or maybe if your mouse allows clicking with the wheel itself - and you can then switch to zoom mode? This does work for me inside the Editor. A single click with the wheel itself allows me to then use it for zooming in/out without the Ctrl key.

Stefan

This Autohotkey script might give you something to start with:

Hello,

I just want to support in this matter the position of the Tracker team:

At least to my mind and for my needs this is very good so. Zooming with mousewheel may be a fine thing e.g. in image viewers etc. But in PDF files for the majority of the users the main contents will be text, that means: something to read (and not something simply to look at). Any other function of the mousewheel than scrolling would be extremely inconvenient in these cases.

PS:
I just remembered the following:
The image viewer XnView (https://www.xnview.com) offers an option for the user to choose if the mousewheel should have scrolling function or zooming function.* If such an option could be implemented into the XChange Editor too, perhaps this could satisfy both groups of users.

Hello all,

As Patrick has mentioned in This thread:
Patrick-Tracker Supp wrote:Hello All,

After some deliberation, this feature request has been officially rejected by our project management team due to fundamental conflicts.

This topic has now been closed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
As such, for the time being it is not possible to make this change, and new consideration will not open until the program has undergone changes that would offset these conflicts.
When the time comes we may reopen the ticket and further consider.

Small hint: I set one thumb button of my mouse to act as CTRL button. That way I don't need to reach for the keyboard for zooming or selection of multiple items. When not enough buttons are available then this is even more important to me than the "Back" button usually associated with thumb buttons.

Side-note: Nothing is worth than using Photoshop when it comes to zooming, because you need to use the ALT key instead of CTRL. Fortunately PS can indeed be set to zoom directly using the mouse-wheel instead of having to press a key.

Thank you all for the input!

I hope any of the suggestions:
- Clicking the wheel itself
- Using AutoHotKey
- Setting an extra mouse button to act as Ctrl

Will be a viable solution, as for the moment there are no plans to make the default wheel scroll zooming in/out, or offering an option to toggle it between scroll and zoom.

Regards,
Stefan
