Overwrite/Insert Mode

PDF-XCange Editor Ver 5.5 (Build 316.1)

Does the program have the ability to switch between Overwrite and Insert Mode?

I have a PDF I downloaded from a company and I would prefer to type the information rather than print out the form and handwrite the information onto the form. I was hoping I could use Overwrite such places as Name, Address, Etc.

If there a way to modify the PDF so I can Overwrite the fields?

Note: It seems like you are using an old version of PDF-XChange Editor (from the beginning of 2016).
In case you still have a valid license, you should consider to install a more recent version.

To overwrite text on your PDF, you can best put text boxes over the empty spaces where you can insert text.
Just click the Add > Add text icon in the ribbon, and click where you like to insert the text.
An empty box will pop-up and you can type your text.
Repeat the action at the other places where you have to insert data.

Welcome to our forums, and thank you for your post. I wish I had a "one size fits all" answer for this question. However, because of the flexible nature of PDF, there are a few possible solutions.

If the PDF contains fillable form fields, simply use the Hand Tool to select a field, then delete the existing text and replace it with your own.

Should the document be a simple PDF file representing a form, you will need to determine if the text in the form "fields" are comments, or base content. If you can select the elements with the Hand tool, they are comments. When selected, simply use the Delete key to remove comments. If you can not select the text block to be modified using the hand tool, it is most likely base content. You can a) remove the text using the Edit content tool as detailed here: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowle ... -documents

b) you can simply overwrite the area with a comment of your own using the Typewriter or Text Box tools with a white background. You will find both these tools in the Comments tab of PDF-XChange Editor as of Version 7. You are using an older build, so these tools will be located in the main toolbar, or under Tools> Comment and Markup Tools.

In the classic interface, select the tool, then change the fill color in the properties toolbar (Ctrl+E).
