Text tool not working?

I scanned a document with an app called Scanner Pro on my iPhone. That exported to a PDF file on my PC (via Dropbox). I opened that in
PDF—XChange Viewer. But clicking the Text tool and dragging text to copy it to the clipboard does not work.

I tried an arbitrary old PDF and the text tool worked OK on that.

What am I missing please?

Check to see if that software didn't scan as an image then created a PDF out of that image.

Terry: As Claude has intimated, scanners essentially just take a photo of a page, so there isn't actually any text information in the document, only an image of text. You'll need to use Document --> OCR Pages feature, will try to recognize characters and place that text information in the document.

Also, slight side note: I used to live just outside of East Grinstead (Turners Hill) many years ago, before I moved to Canada. Lovely place!
