Prevent Adobe Reader from Changing Defaults for Windows 7

Post by eddierowe »

We have Adobe Reader DC 2015 installed alongside PDF-XChange and each time we apply a patch to Reader it changes the default PDF handler. Does anyone have a solution as to how to stop this that I may have overlooked on Adobe's site? I did find a possible solution, but only for Windows 8 and higher.

Hello eddierowe,

I am afraid that I can't quite help with Adobe's products, and their installers, but maybe after that update that would steal the file associations, you can apply new settings for the Editor that will take those back?
