Unexpected filename displayed

Post by Bob Coleman »

I have several files with various filenames. Whatever the filename, when these files are displayed in the Editor, both the title bar and the tab display "Explanation of Benefits - Part C.;". I've never seen this before. Obviously this "name" is coming from somewhere in the file, but where? Can I change it?

Hello Bob,

Could you please try to reset your program setting to the default values and see if this corrects the issue.
This can be done under the Main menu -> File -> Reset Settings:

I hope this helps.

No, resetting settings doesn't change this behavior.

The document properties window (CTRL+D) should have an option to manage this:

Please let us know if changing this has any effect.

Yes, it does. These files must be the first ones I've ever encountered that have a document title stored within them. I apparently have to make the change for each file exhibiting this behavior and the initial view property must be stored in the file somewhere because after changing it and closing the editor, I'm asked if I want to save the changes.

I see that I could remove the document title using the properties window instead of changing the initial view.

Hello Bob,

Yes the data for the Initial view is stored inside the file itself, and 'travels' with it - that's why you need to save the changes to it.

Hello Stefan,

how can I set "show in Title" per default to "Filename"?
Changing this behaviour in every File with a Title is a bad option.

Thank you!

Hello Matthias,
You are able to change document properties in bulk using our PDF-Tools Batch processing utility. Available as a part of our PDF-XChange PRO suite, available here: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/produc ... change-pro

Simply look under the Advanced Category, select the Change Document Properties tool, and then open All options under the Tool infor for Change Document properties.
Once that dialog is opened, navigate to the Initial view Category, and enable window options, then use that dropdown to change those settings in bulk.

Afterwards, simply double click the tool to run it, and select the files you would like to modify.
