Few features modified (solutions from browsers)

Hi, I have a few ideas to improve some of the things in the program. I have been waiting for some of them for a long time. I hope it will be possible to do.

1. adding the possibility of removing X from the document cards - I often close them by accident
2. adding the possibility of removing X on the panel cards + adding the closing option under RMB - same thing
3. moving the panel switch permanently to the left of the screen (also when the panels are open at the same height) by removing the window frame from the left, also when more than one document is open - easy closing / opening of the panel switch without moving the cursor (solution known from web browsers)
4. optionally solution of low visibility of many panel cards by replacing them with icons (eg arranged vertically as in browsers)
5. integration of Search and Property panels into panels on the left (no right panel)
6. adding a quick search text bar to the toolbars (like in browsers)

1 - I like this idea, as I do the same (but I don't see it being implemented as a checkbox for such a minute detail would go highly unnoticed, and cause many issues for others)

2 - I don't like this one as much, I believe it would cause some users much grief, to the same effect as the above.

3 - this seems like multiple requests, and I struggle to follow exactly what you mean with each point.

4 - Could you Create/Photoshop an image to visualize what you mean on this matter? I am curious to see what it is you mean exactly.

5 - As OVG displays above

6 - The Find Pane can be left open in the same manner, always being available (CTRL+F)

7 - Available to be changed under preferences > Customize UI



All these points are being addressed assuming you are running build 325.

1. I don't understand what issues for others it can create, it's an optional improvement for everybody in options
2. but it's already easier to close them by MMB, does anyone use X? It's harder to navigate them because of close button.
3. yes, it's few ideas in one sentence:
- Panels switcher always on the left edge of the screen. Now it moves to the right edge of the panels window and it's harder to click.
- When it's on the right/when opened, it's small, it could be as high as when panels are closed.
- Panels switcher up to the edge of the screen. Now if there's more than 1 pdf opened, there is a thin window border next to the switcher at the edge of the screen. It would be easier to open/close it when it's at the edge, you don't need to look at it to use it, same thing is in web browsers like Vivaldi.

One more reason to put the find box in the toolbar again, which seems to be under way

...and

this is on the radar, there is a ticket for it: RT#2663: Feature Request : Quick find tool in Editor as was in Viewer
It is getting a lot of requests lately - we'll see what we can do about raising the priority and getting this into the next build.

I see we have the find tool but it doesn't seem possible to dock it in the toolbar.

I have created a feature request for both points 1 & 2:
#4355: FR: option to remove "x" and close with MMB for document tabs/panes
As for point 3, The Current handling is the intended handling, and likely will not be changing in this regard.

Thanks, but I don't understand why point 3 is intended. It is very uncomfortable and my proposition is very comfortable.

Most of the competition do it this way, and as such we made the conscious decision to make it function as they do to ease new user confusion. While I have said it is unlikely, that does not mean it is impossible, or that it will never happen.
I've spoken with the dev team on this, they are aware of this thread, and they may chime in at some point on it.
But until they make a decision otherwise, it will be staying as is.
