3D PDF FILE VIEWING?

Post by yosso »

Will PDF-XCHANGE ever have the capability of displaying 3D content or do we need to stick to free solutions like Acrobat DC?

Regards,

Yes we do intend to support 3D pdf viewing in the future,
currently this is a complex feature though and it may take a long while to be implemented.

Please do not expect this in the near future, it is likely a few major version releases away, not minor build updates.

Hi zylex,

I'm afraid none yet :(
If posting files to this forum, you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded.
Thank you.

As a manufacturer with own design center we still have to use Acrobat for 3D-PDF.
Whats your timeline for the 3D-support?

Hello Wetropa,

Our latest versions already support 3D PDF files.

Please upgrade your software and try again to open your 3D files.

great, and the model tree is perfect
But where and what are the settings for Multimedia3D. When deploying, i want 3D-Content to be enabled per default? I Can't find them in the new v7-Doku.

The lighting-feature is essential, cause our products are really shown only as black boxes and you can see nothing without enlighting them with this feature. Perhaps i have to make "CAD-lighting" the default for us. But where is this switch stored?
(Acrobat has an autolightener implemented.)

Hello Wetropa,

Is it possible to send us a few example files so we can see what we can do about this issue?
Please send us the files to: support@pdf-xchange.com

Hello AndyK,
Thank you for the links, most of these files appear to have PRC type 3D content, we are working to bring it in, but at the moment we are only able to manipulate U3D content. You can check the type of 3D in use by opening the properties tab while the 3d content is selected.

It seems this one has some JS in it, so you will need to click the Show 3D model button, (the Editor may also ask to trust this document).
After that, 3D seems to work nicely.
