can't install PDF-XChange Editor - Error: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32

Hi,

I have installed PDF-XChange Editor V7.0.324.3 over V7.0.324.2
Windows 10 Enterprise - 1709 (Build 16299.214) 64bit

I got this error message...

The key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved
could not be opened. Make sure that you have sufficient access rights for this key, or contact support.
the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved
does not exists in my registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved exists

Please also note that our installer must be run on the matching system architecture. If you have 64-bit windows please ensure that you are using either the home (zip) installer or the 64 bit MSI installer.

(btw: the file msizap.exe was not in your Mail!)

I run cmd.exe als admin and than i copied this string in the window

But when I now reinstall pdfxchange editor - I got the same message from above :-(

It seems the key in question has some specific permissions set.
Please try to remove those permissions using regedit tool:

1. Run regedit.exe
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved
3. Right click on Approved and select Permissions... from the menu
4. In the dialog that opens, click the Advanced button
5. New windows will be opened with Permissions tab selected. Please check that SYSTEM and Administrators accounts have Full Control permissions.

Also, please check and fix HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved key.

Also, you can try MS tool for fixing installation issues: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... or-removed
