Page layout settings

Post by tm8544 »

On Editor V7.324.2 there are following options for Page layout settings:

In online manual there are following options for Page layout settings:

Note the highlighted part in manual, it is missing in the actual Editor settings.
Is this by design or is it missing by accident?

It would be very useful if I could set default zoom to e.g. 100% instead of automatic, and use Initial view settings for a document to have some other zoom settings for a particular document (with Respect documents settings).

I have also had other concerns with page layout, I don't know if this is also related with viewtopic.php?f=62&t=30367&p=120999&hil ... 44#p120567

The single checkbox was intended to be a catch-all respect the documents settings, but upon testing here I see what you mean, magnification rules are not respected at all.
I'm going to pass this over to the dev team, it'll likely be fixed in a build or two, thanks for the report! Edit: added below,
#4234: Respect document settings does not respec zoom

Is this single checkbox also supposed to respect documents settings in Default view (visibility of panes etc)?
If this is the case, it does not work either. To use documents settings in view, you have to select Automatic in Editor's settings.

Document settings do not store pane information, the only options available in document settings are the ones you can edit in the "Document properties" under file.
to have panes and other ui elements restored with a document be sure to check off both the "Restore last used..." options.

What I meant is the Navigation view in Initial View settings of the document.
Open a document in Editor, press Ctrl-D, select Initial view and set Navigation view, e.g. Bookmarks pane and Page.
In order to show the document with this view, default view setting in Editor must be set to automatic, otherwise Editor's setting overrides document's view setting.

oh, yes that one should be, and in my tests is, respected. For example with the "Layers Pane and Page" option selected, it does indeed open the layers pane with it.
Could you Export your settings file and send them to me? I will test again with your settings and see if I can reproduce the issue.

My settings file is attached.
Default view for Editor is Page only.
For example, if the Navigation view in document is Bookmarks pane and page, only page is displayed.

Hi everyone,

In the passed months, there have been several issues about the Page Display Options:
- viewtopic.php?f=62&t=30151
- viewtopic.php?f=62&t=29808
- viewtopic.php?f=62&t=29404
...

It is not easy to present all these settings in a comprehensible way and to see the logic and dependencies in all this.

In fact you can have a preference for:
- the PDF initial view document settings
- the PDF Editor default settings
- the Most recently used settings
and this for every available option: Default Page Layout, Default Zoom, Default page, ...

I hope that Tracker Software Development will soon work this out.

Best regards.

Thank you for consolidating this list willy,
I'm going to go through all these, test them and create tickets if any of them are missing so our devs can focus on them.
Have a good day!

Hello,

may I add/remind here my old report (from 2016) too?

It's this one:
viewtopic.php?f=62&t=27248 ("Remember/Restore the last position within a document").

It seems to me that what I wrote there has to do with the problems that are reported now in this topic and in the topics mentioned by Willy Van Nuffel above, especially here:
viewtopic.php?f=62&t=29808 ("The Editor stopped to open docs on the same page that I left last time opened")

In the last mentioned topic a fixing for version 7 was promised, but for me with version 7.0 (build 324.2) the problem continues to exist. (Most of the time I use the Editor for viewing PDF-files where continuous reading does not play a role [primarily dictionaries], so often I do not realize the problem for a longer time. But when continuous reading is necessary [e.g. reading a "normal" text, for example a book] the issue is annoying.)

Thank you.
