suggestion for "Delete pages" menu

Post by angel herraez »

I find myself often deleting a single page from a document. The current procedure takes at least 4 clicks:
menu Document > Delete Pages > Delete Pages... > Current Page > OK
Image

I understand this is a destructive action, but even so we have undo, so I'd prefer to have a quicker way of removing the current page. with less submenu levels.
This could be better:
menu Document
  • Delete Pages
    • Delete Current Page
    • Delete Page Range... (leading to the dialog)
    • Delete Empty Pages...
What do others think?

for: Delete Current Page => in the preview panel (Ctrl + T) - press the DEL key on your keyboard
completely without menu ;-)

Very useful, Andy
Thanks

Still I think the menu interface would improve with the change I propose

Hello all,

Thanks for the shortcuts AndyK,

And Angel - we are quite happy with how page removing is currently implemented. Invoking the Ctrl-Shift-D menu, or the thumbnails pane and the Del key directly are both quite convenient, and adding extra entries (e.g. delete current page) in the main menus will just make them harder to navigate.

Regards,
Stefan

another idea...
You can also add an icon to the toolbar for deleting pages.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the suggestion, but given the ease of doing this with the Thumbnails Pane and the fact that we already have the standard Delete Pages available on the toolbar, it's not likely that we'll implement this so as to avoid unnecessary clutter. If you want, you can quite easily add your own custom JavaScript button to do this. It's very simple to do, even without any JavaScript experience:

Search for the delete pages function here:

Add the script as per my post here:

Cheers,
