Export search Results to Text or CSV - feature request
Hi,
I would like to export My search results to a text or CSV file to allow me to do takeoffs...
would it be possible to implement this?
Cheers!

Hello grant mcgarry,
Welcome to our forums.
I am afraid that such a feature is not currently available in our products.
We offer exporting measurements to a CSV file but not search results.
What I can offer you is to e.g. highlight your search results, and then use the summarize comments feature - this will generate a summary of the search results effectively. (Yes it will export other comments as well but will get the current search results in a separate file/summary).
Regards,
Stefan

Hello grant mcgarry,
The Export\Import of the search results will be available from the next release that should be out in a couple of weeks or so.
Cheers,
Alex

Thanks for the fast replies
Exporting or copying the search results to the clip board would be fantastic.
I need to copy the data out for input into an sql database so a delimiter would be nice
Best thing is I can already gather all the data I need (page number, Bookmark, text, total results...etc) using the search function and other features already provided, I just couldn't get the data out.
I look forward to using this feature going forward!
Kind Regards,
Grant.

Re: Export search Results to Text or CSV - feature request
found it the save results in V7 however I can't save/open the results in a usable format i.e excel...
Managed to get what I needed using summarize comments in this case however the data needed is not always comments so still need to export the search results into a usable format.
Cheers Grant

Hello Grant,
It seems like the current implementation only allows you to export the search results in a custom file format that we created for it, and then to load those same search results back int he search pane of the Editor, but not to export it in a format that can e.g. then be used in Excel.
I will take a note to ask on the next meeting if there are plans to support exporting to other file formats in the future, and will post back here when I get the feedback!
Cheers,
Stefan

Re: Export search Results to Text or CSV - feature request
Hello all,
We do have a Feature Request ticket for this now in our system:
#4290: FR Editor: Ability to export search results to an editable file format (e.g. CSV)
But for the time being I do not have an estimate of when this will be ready. However - as soon as there are any updates in the ticket - I will post them here as well!
Cheers,
Stefan

Re: Export search Results to Text or CSV - feature request
Hello Guys,
What do you expect from the resulting CSV file? Meaning what columns do you expect from this file and also, how the multi-document CSV file should look like? For example, we can write each new file as a separate Row or create a new Column with the file name. Also, there are things like text in bookmarks, attachments etc that need to be flagged somehow (probably another column). Anyways - if you have any ideas on this matter, then tell us and we'll take them into an account.
Cheers,
Alex

Re: Export search Results to Text or CSV - feature request
Hi Alex,
Thanks for this.
What do you expect from the resulting CSV file? - Currently I just need the results in an accessible text format as currently displayed in the application window already.
If I could select the displayed results with a cursor the copy & paste into excel this would be fine.
what columns do you expect from this file and also, how the multi-document CSV file should look like? For example, we can write each new file as a separate Row or create a new Column with the file name. - Yes -please this would be very useful..
Also, there are things like text in bookmarks, attachments etc that need to be flagged somehow (probably another column). - this additional / Flag info available in a Column would be great.
Look forward to seeing this in the near future.
Kind Regards,
Grant.
