Remove all mailto links

Hi,

I am using the PDF Editor Suite Plus v6 Build 322.6. I need to convert e-mails received in Outlook into PDF. Now that works.

However it is absolutely not possible to delete any mail hyper links of the format mailto: from the PDF file. I need to be able to hide from certain people e-mail addresses and complete remove / delete the links mailto: from the resulting PDF file.

But this does not work at all. No chance.

Please advise how I can achieve this.

NB - converting the mail to html and removing all mailto links yield nothing, converting the PDF to WinWord and removing all links does not yield anything. The mailto link is 100 % always in the PDF file.

Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for your post. These links may be automatically detected by the Editor and not actually be part of the PDF file. You can turn this detection off under Edit> Preferences> Page text:

I hope this helps!

Thank you for the tip.

I tried this but it does not work at all.

This is how I create the PDF:

- Open the mail in Outlook
- Click on the "PDF-XChange V6" plug in
- Click on "Convert to PDF"
- Open PDF Exchange Editor
- Disable "Create links from URLs in page text..."
- Open PDF file
- mailto links seem to have disappeared
- Save a copy of the PDF file

In Adobe Acrobat or PDF XChange viewer the links are still there well and alive.

I do not want to have these "mailto:user@domain.com" links at all.

Please provide step-by-step instructins on how to resolve this matter and have these links permanently removed from any PDF file.

Thank you.

Hi Christian,

Can you please send a sample document containing these links?

Thanks,

Hi Will,

I am happy to do this.

However as this e-mail is business related I prefer not to upload it to a public discussion forum but rather send it to Tracker Software support with an according ticket number.

Please provide e-mail address and ticket number and I will provide the PDF file.

Once the issue has been resolved, we can post the solution in the discussion forum.

Thank you for your help and understanding.

Hi Christian,

That's not a problem - The appropriate email address would be support@pdf-xchange.com, however we do not issue general ticket numbers. If you copy/paste the link to this forum topic in the email, we'll know what the file is in reference to.

Cheers,

Hi Christian,

Thanks for sending the file - There aren't actually any links in the document. What you're seeing is that most PDF readers have what is called an automatic link parser. This 'parses' (recognizes) literal links such as http://, fttp://, etc, and email address automatically, on the fly. The links that are parsed are not actually stored in the document in any way. You'll need to disable the link parser in each application you are viewing the PDF. I can't really assist with doing that in Adobe, but in the Viewer this is done via Edit --> Preferences --> Page Display --> Create links from URLs.

Thanks,

Thank you very much, Will.

Sorry for not replying earlier.

I have been very busy over the past few weeks.

I consider this matter as resolved.

Thanks.
