Request for availability of PDFX in the Windows Store
Dear developers,
I'd like to request the availability of PDFX in the Windows Store.
Ideally, I'd also like a future PDFX with a revamped UWP UI (maybe with ribbons or better) that's also friendly to touch & pen for 2-in-1 hybrids like the Surface Pro.
There are already a few tablet friendly UWP PDF apps already in the Store, but they lack most of the great features that PDFX has. PDFX is really very CPU resource friendly, which saves battery life, this is also a major reason why I use PDFX.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Request for availability of PDFX in the Windows Store
Hi Jimmy,
Thanks for the post - I'm afraid that we're almost certainly not likely to make our software available via the Windows Store. This requires that our software be developed in a very specific way, which obviously means that not only do we have to rebuild all of our software virtually from the ground up, but we would also have to keep and maintain two separate code-bases which is an enormous task in and of itself.
It's also worth noting that, at this time, we currently only support Windows desktop operating systems. So our software will work on tablets using 'standard' version of Windows.
Regarding the refactoring of the UI, this is already set to take place fairly soon.
Thanks,

With the UWP Desktop Bridge, you don't have to rewrite much, and you will only have to maintain a single code-base. Many desktop apps have been ported this way already.

One of the many things I like about proper universal apps with UWP UI is that it allows you to unhide the taskbar bar by just hovering at the bottom of the screen while in fullscreen mode, which allows for better multi-tasking.

Hi Jimmy,
Thanks for the info. - I'll pass that along, but it's unlikely that the use of those kinds of 3rd party tools will meet with both Dev Team and CEO approval.

They are not 3rd party tools. The Desktop Bridge is Microsoft's official way to bring existing Win32 desktop apps to the UWP platform and Windows Store.
Windows S on Surface Laptop that only supports store apps is already in the wild and is expected to become more widespread on mainstream PCs next year, since hardware makers are getting Windows S for free.

Re: Request for availability of PDFX in the Windows Store
Hi Jimmy,
We have entertained this possibility before - programmatic hurdles notwithstanding, adding our apps to the windows store is prohibitively restrictive, and Microsoft requires a large commission that we are not offering even to our best resellers, therefore we will not be pursuing this further at this time.
Thank you,

Re: Request for availability of PDFX in the Windows Store
The barrier of trying and purchase is much lower in the Store, since everything is in one place and installing and updating is much more convenient. I would pay for the non-plus version in the Store.
Anyway, even just having PDFX as AppX outside the Store would be nice.

Hi Jimmy,
I am sorry to say that the decision has already been made. You can purchase from our website: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/products or from one of our reputable resellers: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/resell ... -resellers
Take care!

Re: Request for availability of PDFX in the Windows Store
I only use the regular non-plus version of PDFX which has all the features I need and is already free. What I meant is that I would pay for this non-plus regular version if it were in the Windows Store.
And with a fitting UWP UI, there would simply be no competition to PDFX in the Windows Store.

Hi Jimmy,
We understand but, as Patrick mentioned, the decision here has been made by the CEO, so our hands are tied. I was not aware of the commission required by Microsoft, or I would have mentioned that previously too.
Thanks,
