I have a set of PDFs I created out of photographed paper documents, which then I enhanced and OCRed with Acrobat. Very often when I open one of them, highlight a random sentence and try to save, I get an error and then the file is already saved as damaged. Then the file won't open again with X-change (322.5) or Acrobat X. For now all I can do is use Acrobat with these files.

Re: Damaging PDFs
Hi glocal,
Thanks for the post and samples - I can't reproduce this when OCRing with our software. Can you please provide a sample document that has been OCR using Acrobat (without any other changes made).

Re: Damaging PDFs
For some reason I didn't get a notification for your reply. Anyway, let me explain this a bit better. I am not using X-Change to OCR the file. Original.pdf is already prepared. The point is that when I try to edit it (eg highlight a sentence) and save it I get the error message and a permanently damaged PDF. Acrobat doesn't damage the file. Are you saying that you can edit original.pdf and save it without getting the error? I can reproduce this every single time and it happens with many similar files.

Re: Damaging PDFs
Hello glocal,
Just tried with your original file, and placed a highlihht and an underline on two separate pages, and the file saved correctly for me.
Can you please run a test on a different machine and see if it is reproducible there or if it happens only on one device?
Regards,
Stefan

Re: Damaging PDFs
It looks like false alarm. I am trying to reproduce the problem with several files and I can't! Something must have broken in Windows or X-change in that session and fixed itself after a reboot. Fingers crossed it won't happen again.
Also, thanks for reinstating my forum access. It works fine now.

Hi glocal,
Yeah - it seems to have been a one off! Glad that it is not happening any more!
