How to change default preferences / setting

We installed PXF-Xchange Viewer for all users as Default application for PDF-files
We installed (and licenced) PDX-Xchange-Editor Pro for all users (not Default application)

Having the Viewer only for viewing purposes, we want to minimize menues and buttons to a reasonable minimum for all users.
How can we change/setup the default preferences after Installation for all users?
Where are the initial preferences (factory settings?!) stored?

A quick reply would be nice, because we must install PDF-Xchange Software this afternoon onto our productive system.

Thanks in advance

H Gerhard,

Thanks for the post - Our settings are stored in the registry, so you'll need to install on a single test machine and set the desired settings, then use the Export Settings (under the Edit menu) feature, then deploy the settings to your users after installation:

Editor:
https://help.pdf-xchange.com/pdfxe6 ... ns_ed.html

Viewer:
https://help.pdf-xchange.com/EUM/de ... ne_options

HTH!

Hi Tracker Support.

we use PDF-XChange Editor with a specific settings-File to reduce program options to a "view only" needed minimum as default application for .PDF-files .
we changed the following registry entry as follows:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PDFXEdit.PDF\shell\open\command: "C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF Editor\PDFXEdit.exe" "%1" /usep:readonly "C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF-Xchange-EditorView.ini"

to start PDF-XChange Editor with full function we generated a startup menu entry as follows:
"C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF Editor\PDFXEdit.exe" /usep:readonly "C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF-Xchange-EditorFull.ini"

It works fine, but now we found a Problem: within the browser (IE11) the PDF-XChange Editor is also used to display the pdf-files.
but it appears with full set of program options, which is default.

Is there any way to tell the browser plugin to use the file "PDF-Xchange-EditorView.ini" as settings?

Generally:
is there any way to define (my own system wide) default seetings, which are used in any case of program activation, if there is not given a /usep or /import command line parameter?

thanks in advance

Hello Gerhard,

The "in browser" settings are stored separately in the registry than the other ones.
But if you create a settings file by exporting from e.g. the Edtor on your machine - it should copy all settings (including the browser one). You just need to set the editor up on your machine inside browser the way you want it - and then use the export feature to generate a new settings file.
