App-V packaging PDF XChange Editor Pro

Hi there,

I'm trying to deploy PDF XChange Editor 6 Pro via Microsoft App-V.

Sequencing works fine, but the licence key will not be kept in the package.
Every start of the App-V package, the users do have to add the key again.

Does anyone have experiences sequencing PDF XChange Pro Editor 6
with App-V 5.0 SP2 ???

Hi Inga,

Thanks for the post - Am I correct in understand the MS App-V is used to virtualize applications? If so, then I'm afraid that we do not support application virtualization at this time. We're hoping to support this in the not-too-distant future.

I'll pass this along to a colleague to see if there is anything that we can do to help, but any issue/bug is not likely to be treated as a priority, given that we don't support it.

Will is right, we have not formally supported App-V in the past. Having said that, I do know of clients who have deployed it successfully.

Have you tried decrypting the keys as is required on a terminal server farm? By default the keys are encrypted with machine specific seeds so cannot be shared among hosts in that state. You can use the /openkeys command of the xcvault utility to change that.

I will give a try on generating openkey and provide the package again with App-V.
So I will let you know if it works (or not).

I've tried to setup the key like described under:

using /AddKeys insteat of /OpenKeys.

While installing PDF-XChange Editor Pro, running xcvault /addkeys /M /S Personal.xcvault (downloaded from licence protal),
applications showes the correct licence entry.

Also in Regedit I see that the key is only set in HKLM insteat of HCKU.

But running application on the terminalserver via App-V, the licence-key is still missing

Any idea ?

Hi Inga,

Please try adding /R, so your string looks like this:

/addkeys /M /R /S Personal.xcvault 

Without that, the license will still be encrypted.
