"File" drop down doesn't!

Post by Robert13 »

I just put a new hard drive in and had to re-install Editor. All is fine except File on the Menu bar no longer will drop down to let me open or save or whatever.
Is there a setting I'm missing or ? All other commands on the menu bar work.
I downloaded and installed ProV6.x64.msi

Hi Robert,

thanks for the post and report. That should not be possible!

Can you please export your settings to file and post them here?

Edit --> Export Settings

after exporting the settings lease reset them to defaults:

Edit --> Reset Settings

Let us know if that restores the File item on the Toolbar properly.

hth

Attached is the settings file. Resetting did fix the problem. Not sure why I didn't think of that.
I'll blame it on the computer crash :(
The settings in the attached file, was a set I had saved previously, before the crash and before version 6.0.
Maybe that is why it would not work?

Hi Robert13,

Thanks for the follow-up - glad the reset helped! The items under the file menu likely got removed. If this happens again then please let us know.

Cheers,

Hi, Robert.
Attached is the settings file. Resetting did fix the problem. Not sure why I didn't think of that.
If you want to return back your customized toolbars:

1. Import all settings from the settings-file that your provided for us.
2. Use the Menu/View/Toolbars/Customize Toolbars feature
3. In dialog, in 'Toolbars' tab select the 'Menu' item and then use 'Reset' button

- it will reset to defaults only the main menu and keep your other customized toolbars as well.

---

We reproduced your issue with your settings and will investigate/fix it, thanks..

Cheers.

I just realized that I have/had the same problem.
I attached my xcs-file in case you want to have a second one for your investigations.
As I didn't made many changes I just re-created my settings which fixed the problem.(Resetting to default values worked too)

Hi HaPe,

Thanks for that, but I'm afraid that we won't be able to see why it happened, but will only see the removal of the file drop-down as a user-defined menu customization. I suspect that you may have accidentally removed the drop-down, but if not, we would actually have to reproduce it happening here.

Thanks,
