Checking for updates needs to be changed the way it works!

Post by gate1975mlm »

Are you planning to ever change the way PDF-XChange Editor checks for updates?

What I mean is just about ever software I use can check for updates from with in there own interface without having to have a update checker running in the system tray.

Thanks

Hi gate1975mlm,

Thanks for the post - it's not likely and many other applications/publishers actually offer their updates in the same way (Adobe, Java, Microsoft, AMD, Nvidia, ASUS, etc.). This is the most efficient way to handle updates when a publisher installs multiple applications, as it allows all application updates to be offered in a single sweep.

We offer our updates in this manner because it was the popular request of many, many users.

Thanks,

Ok I understand that's fine but how about at least adding an option to hide the updater icon from the system tray? I would like it to run quietly in the background but without an icon in the system tray if possible?

Thanks

Hi gate1975mlm,

That may well be possible and a good compromise. I'll pass it along for consideration.

Cheers,
