Alignment problem

Post by HaPe »

The alignment tool seems to be working fine only when I use the "Actual Size" (1:1) option.
When I use "Fit Page" or "Fit Width" and try to align for instance textboxes or
attachment symbols I am getting random results.
Not sure if this a problem with my system or a bug.

please take a look at the short video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlINzYZXaFs

Apart from that could you tell me how to resize an "added" picture while keeping its aspect ratio?
I have tried various key combinations without success.

I'm using the latest version of PDF XChange v6 build 317.1

thanks in advance

Hi HaPe

do you see this with other types of objects when using the Align tool? I see this as you showed but only when I use the Attachment Tool. I will ask the devs about this.

Regards resizing images, if you grab the corner handles you should find resize does keep the aspect ratio.

Hi Paul,
it obviously only happens to objects which don't have this tiny rectangle that appears
when placing them on the grid.
The Sound,Sticky Note and Attachment-symbol have all the same problem.

Another (visually) strange thing happens when placing a textbox on a page and page view is set to "Actual Size" (1:1)

Regarding resizing an added picture:
I still can't figure it out how to keep the aspect ratio.I'm quite sure it's my mistake

None of the mentioned "problems" are in any way "critical" - just thought I let you know....

Thanks for that HaPe,

we have reproduced the issue. As you point out this only happens when not at 100% zoom. we will fix this. In the meanwhile, as a work around set the zoom level to 100% when aligning these objects and they will align correctly.

I have raised a Support Request Ticket (internal only) to track the progress of this bug fix. Although you cannot access the ticket itself, if you refer to RT#3614: Object aling issue when zoom not at 100% when inquiring about this then any support staff member will be able to look it up for you.

Regards the image resize with aspect ratio, that is not currently available for images. If you change the option to "As a Stamp Annotation" then the "Shift" key will work as a modifier and allow you to resize using the corner grab handles while maintaining the aspect ratio.

We will add this to "normal" images in a future build.

Thanks Paul for your quick reply.
It's not a life threatening issue so tell the Dev-team to take their time

Also thanks for your hint to use the option "as stamp annotation" when adding pictures. That actually works fine and keeps the aspect ratio while resizing....
