Pdf Xchange (latest version) shows update notice every...

Yesterday I installed the latest version PDF Xchange Pro on one of our end users system (upgraded from earlier version).
Now every time he opens a PDF a notification message opens about an update being available.
Doesn't matter which option is select (yes or no) the message keeps coming up.
Is there a way to kill the message?

Thanks for the post - can you please advise on what, specifically, happens when you select 'Yes'?

Also, can you please go to Edit --> Preferences --> Updates and advise on the update frequency settings?

The updater loads but says there are no valid products.
I tried setting the frequency of the update check to 'once' but it is still coming up.

I uninstalled the program and reinstalled but nothing changed.

I've seen this as well. It's the normal "start PDF Editor", PDF Editor launches updater in the background, updater pops up a notice saying that a new version of updater is available, click yes or no it doesn't matter. Repeat.
It seems to have cleared up when I assured that all Tracker programs (PDF Editor, and Updater) were not running (I checked for them in Task Manager with Show All Processes selected, none were running) and then I explicitly ran the trackerupdater.exe binary as Administrator (instead of letting UAC detect and request elevation).
Maybe a permissions problem which prevents a trackerupdater.exe automatic update from completing?

This seems to have been going on a lot - updater and PDF Editor updates - lately. I do hope that it gets cleared up. My "users" (which is to say, my wife and myself) are getting restless :-}

Hello libove,

The updater has it's own "update channel" so that we can fix/update it separately from the main products, and there were a few fixes to it lately that should resolve the issue with it constantly popping up and asking to update itself. Also turning off the updater checks inside the Editor (Edit -> Preferences -> Updater) - set it to "Never check for updates" will also prevent the pop-up in older builds of the updater tool.

Sorry for tardy response been crazy busy.

Apparently I cannot attached either a jpg, png or even bmp image to this forum board.

The dialog's title bar says: Tracker Update
Message: A new version of Track Update is available and must be installed to proceed. Do you want to update it now?

I will contact my end user and try (or retry) a couple of things mentioned in this thread to see if I can resolve this.

Yes images are forbidden as direct uploads as in the past we have had bots posting some "less than decent" images... so please do archive them in .zip/.rar/.7z archive and you can then upload them.

And please do let us know how it goes once your user has had the chance to try the suggestions!

We too are having an issue with this. Our users are not local admins, and cannot apply updates themselves. It would be great to be able to turn this option off. It is making the program so annoying its almost unusable.

I have this issue too. I started a post a few days ago.

My question is now. Since we in IT push the updates to the machines (run as administrator. the users don't have admin rights), is there a registry key somewhere that I can push that will set the updater to - don't check? That way the users won't be bugged and I can check tracker's site once a month for new versions.

I've attached a ZIP file that contains two registry keys (renamed to .txt). These will set the Updater and the Editor's update preference, to never.
