Can't Open PDF Files with a Number Sign (#) in the Name

Post by blocka construction inc »

I'm not sure if this was an intentional change is the last update.... but we can no longer open pdf files with a number symbol (#) in the file name.

After the latest update (Version 5.5, Build 314.0) all of our PDF's with a number sign in the name give the following error when opened: "Error [Operating system]: The system cannot find the file specified."

I really hope this is not an intentional change as we are constantly dealing with files that have # symbols in file names. Removing the # sign from the name fixes the issue, but this is not a sustainable workaround. I will probably have to revert a bunch of people to the previous version until an update is released that fixes this.

Hello,

Thank you for the post. Unfortunately this was not intentional. This issue was reported previously and a fix will be implemented in the next update coming in the next two to three weeks.

In the mean time, files that contain # in the directory or name will need to be opened by going to File--> Open from within the Editor, or dragging the file from windows explorer (aka file explorer) onto an Editor window.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to resolve this bug.

Cheers!

It is also a problem if (#) is part of the folder name, as in ~ Parking garage #4
