5.5 Build 313

Post by philip larson »

I just updated PDF-XChange Editor, and I seem to routinely now be corrupting my PDFs as I add typewriter text.

I'm a teacher, and the test is a PDF. I add my notes, an answer key, to the base PDF.

But it will tell me that I can't. Here's my second error:

"The document xxx from file xxx is no longer available and will be closed. Please check your network connections and attached data storage resources."

But I'm pulling this off my SD hard drive. It's also on Dropbox, but that's just as a backup.

Here's my first error:

"Can't save the xxx document. An error occcured during saving the document to the file: xxx. Error [Pdf Structure Library]: Invalid object structure." Then I can retry, but it won't help.

What should I do? This is my main reason for using this product.

I've attached the file. But this isn't the only problem file. Everything I've worked on since the update does the same thing when I try to add typewriter text.

Hi Philip,

Thanks for the post - I've just tested here and am not able to reproduce this. Could you please go to Edit --> Preferences --> Incremental Save and let me know if it is turned on, or off?

Also, please do list your exact procedure, so that I can copy you exactly.

Thanks,

Hi Philip,

Thanks for the post - we've checked over the file and can see that you have Incremental Save turned on, under Edit --> Preferences --> Documents. This is a known issue, so please disable this and we will release a fix on Monday/Tuesday, provided all goes well.

Thanks,

The tooltip of the Incremental Save option is not the best English I have ever seen.

I suggest it could be improved to this:
Incremental Save keeps the original content of the document and, if the document has been changed, it also stores the information about all new changes. Enabling this option may reduce the time it takes to save the document. Please Note: each incremental save will slightly increase the size of the resulting file.

Hi guys,

Philip - No a problem, glad that helped! :)

Bhikkhu - I'd not noticed this before, but I agree. I'll speak with the Dev. Team about changing this.

Cheers,

Hi. Have you changed policies about PDF-XChange Lite Non-Commercial Release? 'Cause in this last version, when I use PDF-XChange Printer, I get the watermarks.

Hello Karl,

This is a known issue with the current build, we are going to release a new build early next week (the plan is for Monday or Tuesday) that will address this. The ticket number for this problem is:
#3076: Build 313.0: Lite free for home/academic

Stefan
