Over at
xplorer2 - See PDF Details they recommend
PDF-XChange Viewer - Shell Extensions and iFilter
Does
PDF-XChange Editor offer the same features as
Viewer ?
-
Viewer is installed on my PC -- left over from upgrading to
Editor
- I have never got around to uninstalling
Viewer
- Adobe Acrobat (plugin) is disabled, by me.
I have never needed to use Adobe Reader in the past 3+ years since using PDF-XChange products.
In Palemoon browser (fork of FireFox) -- Plugins --
Viewer is disabled (by me) and
Editor is enabled
Curiously when I open a PDF web page there is no way of identifying the PDF "engine" in Palemoon
- that default PDF engine provides a download button, so I download then edit in
Editor
Can I uninstall
Viewer without sabotaging
Editor -- especially
Shell Extensions and iFilter

HI bawldiggle,
Thanks for the post!
Does PDF-XChange Editor offer the same features as Viewer ?
It should now offer all of the same features and more, as of the last update. If you do find any missing, please let us know!
Curiously when I open a PDF web page there is no way of identifying the PDF "engine" in Palemoon
Given that Palemoon is based off of Firefox's source code, please try the steps relevant to Firefox, in this KB:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowled ... la-Firefox
The steps should be the same/very similar for the Viewer and for the Editor.
Can I uninstall Viewer without sabotaging Editor -- especially Shell Extensions and iFilter
The only way that the Editor and Viewer 'interact', is that they do share Shell Extensions. However, uninstalling the Viewer should leave the Shell Extensions untouched, so there shouldn't be any issue here.
HTH!

Using Tracker
Knowledge Base Article: KB266 I have a question.
To ensure Editor is ALWAYS the PDF-reader on PDF-web-pages I would like to confirm the settings I should make in my browser "Pale Moon".
The Tracker Knowledge Base article "warns" (in red) to use the Lego setting
I presume that is the "Use PDF-XChange Editor (in Pale Moon)" item with the blue Lego icon
- as per the attached 7zip file
- a shame I am blocked from displaying an image here ... a rather clunky process of unzipping for every reader of this thread.
I would appreciate any help
Thank you
- Palemoon is no longer a fork of Firefox. With the breakaway from Firefox PM is becoming its own entity.
- no Australis UI, no ads, plugins are being re-engineered for a more stable environment.
The majority of mozilla plugins work in Pale Moon, and some (mozilla plugins) have been built-into PM
Palemoon has gone down a more stable path of no nightlies and updates are only when absolutely necessary.
The Membership/downloads have grown enormously for the free browser as a lot of people abandon Firefox's unpopular "directions".
(I am not the Palemoon developer, just a refugee from Firefox problems)

Hi bawldiggle,
We stopped users from allowing image attachments, as we were getting a lot of.... 'inappropriate' posts.
The Tracker Knowledge Base article "warns" (in red) to use the Lego setting
While I'm not particularly familiar with Palemoon, I am given to understand that the same settings would need to be chosen, as in Firefox, so please do choose the setting with the blue Lego icon.
Cheers,

Thanks Will
Palemoon settings work perfectly for PDF-XChange
- works just as well with VIEWER as with EDITOR

Wondeful!
I've been looking for a browser to switch from Chrome, so I'm pleased to hear that
