How to search several words whose order doesn't matter?

Post by tim126 »

I want to search in a pdf file, for several words which appear roughly together in 2 or 3 consecutive sentences, likely with some other irrelavant words between them, and which one occurs before which doesn't matter. How can I do that in the Editor?

Btw,does the editor support regex?

How about the viewer?

Thanks.

Hello Tim,

Currently the Editor's search function does not support regex. In the search pane (CTRL+Shift+F), you can set the proximity options to be within the same document, rather than adjacent. It should then bring back results for each instance of each of the words that were searched.

I hope this helps!

Thank you.

Yeah, set the proximity option from the search pane to "same paragraph" should do what you are after.

You can even search for paragraphs that contain like [(Word#1 OR Word#2) AND Word#3 BUT NOT Word#4] using the advanced search options. But don't tell everybody because proficient usage of the PDF-XChange Editor search abilities truly makes The Force be With You, and you really don't want your enemies know about that as well :)
