Send by Email bug

I have PDF-XChange 5.5 build 311.0 installed , but cannot use it to send a pdf by email, and cannot even submit an error report using the 'Report a Problem' menu for the same reason;
Whenever attempting to send anything, I get error ' [MailLib]: General MAPI failure'

My email options are set to use desktop mail client - which in my case is Outlook 2013

Outlook itself works fine, and other applications that attempt to use it seem to be able to do so with no problem (e.g. clicking the 'send link' menu option within any web browser invokes Outlook and inserts the link into a new e-mail message)

Is this a known bug, and what is the solution? (short of manually saving and attaching PDFs to emails)

Hello Paul,

Welcome to or forums.
We rely on MAPI to send e-mails, so if you do not have an associated default MAPI client this could cause troubles. Seems like Outlook 2013 has had such issues in the past and this affected other software as well:

So please try reinstalling Outlook 2013 (or installing correct version of it) and see if that will help?

Hello

We have the same problem. It works as administrator but hangs as normal user.
unfortunately we arent able to reinstall Outlook 2013 since it is a productive enviroment.
Are there any rights to set?

Thanks for the info. - This is because Protected Mode in IE blocks access to much of Microsoft's API's (e.g. MAPI). There is a potential fix that we're investigating, but it's quite a time consuming implentation.

For now, the only workaround is to disable Protected Mode in IE.
